Greetings from us all at Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support for our work in providing food support to those in need in Stoke on Trent and the surrounding area.
2020 and 2021 remains challenging for people financially impacted through the pandemic due to furlough, job loss and Covid-19 infection control; and of course also for those whose income is so low or non-existent that they live their lives in a perpetual state of food poverty. No-one should be facing hunger and malnutrition in 2021 in the UK, but statistics evidence that many people do; and children, the sick and most vulnerable adults are among those most significantly affected. Sadly the numbers are unlikely to reduce in the foreseeable future, with people's ability to pay their way either stagnating or declining still further due to the financial crisis globally.
The last year has also been challenging for our staff, who have risen to meet that challenge head on, and not only continued to deliver food bank services, but have also given more time and effort to extend and grow our service.
Our volunteers who were able to continue, have been superb, and our church partners have been fully engaged in supporting our work throughout. We have many long serving volunteers who have not been able to work with us, we have missed them, been concerned for their wellbeing and along with many of the people in this city they have had to learn to adapt to a new way of living - in isolation, without visits to family and friends.
However it is you, our individual, group and business food and cash donors who have sustained and blessed the food bank and enabled the work to continue, with your wonderful generosity and kindness, and for this we are truly grateful. It is not overlooked that many of our donors are doing so at a time when they too are financially challenged, suffering loss; distress and isolation, and yet still our donations have continued and even grown, how truly amazing is that!
So thank you so much, and may you be blessed and comforted to know that you have helped so very many people in their very worst hours, days and weeks. You really do make a difference for the better in the lives of others!
Warmest Regards
