Jacqueline On .. A father
A father has always been important in my life. I have known two step-fathers, one bad and one good (who I took care in his old age); but I often wondered who was my biological father. I had always thought it unlikely I would find out .. until now!
I got to know my heavenly Father at the age of sixteen, when on 14 May 1958 I gave my heart to the Lord Jesus. I realised that my Heavenly Father gave his Son on the cross for my sins. It was an amazing experience. I was now forgiven and I had a heavenly Father through my knowledge and faith in Jesus.
Recently my younger daughter wanted to find out who was her natural grandfather. She had been speaking to someone who studied genealogy and family trees. She took a DNA test and was almost sure she had information on him. She needed my DNA to prove it. At first, I was not too interested, but eventually agreed.
What an amazing revelation of modern science! His name was Jack (so my mother left me a clue in my name). They met in 1941, when Hitler was practically on our doorstep. He was 19 and my mother was 21. I am almost certain he did not know about me. In 1942, when I was born, he went to Malta with kits of Spitfire aeroplanes which he helped the Maltese to assemble. He was a squadron leader and it was a dangerous mission. In a sense he was a hero.
That reminded me of my heavenly Father God who has been a constant in my life. He made me wonderfully and fearfully. He has taken care of me every second of my life, even through the war years and lately through the Covid-19 pandemic. What better Father could we have than Father God? It is nice to know who my natural father was, but I shall always pay huge importance to and faith in my Father, GOD.
